Big John Bates
Guitarist/vocalist Big John Bates started playing his brand of psychobilly throughout his native of Vancouver in 1999 backed by the traditional rhythm secion of bass and drums. With an inspiration that looks up to the Cramps, the Reverend Horton Heat, and an additional lyrical content of bad girls, motorcycles, demons, and alien strippers, Raucous Music released Bates' first EP, entitled Vibro-Psychotic, in 2000. The following year, Hullabaloo and El Toro Records collaborated to release his debut full-length, Flamethrower. Bates returned in 2003 with his sophomore effort, Mystiki. Take Your Medicine appeared in 2006. In 2009, Bates released his fourth full-length album, Bangtown. A year later, he followed-up with Clockwork Blues. In 2011, Bates added bassist/cellist/vocalist Brandy Bones to his ensemble to share lead-vocal duties. In 2012, he released the EP Headless Fowl and the full-length album, Battered Bones.
