Axis Point
Comprising ex-Hardin And York and Spencer Davis Group Eddie Hardin (b. 1949, England; vocals, keyboards), ex-Family and Streetwalkers Charlie Whitney (b. Richard John Whitney, 24 June 1944, Skipton, North Yorkshire, England; guitar), ex-Taste and Spencer Davis Group Charlie McCracken (bass) and ex-Family Rob Townsend (b. 7 July 1947, Leicester, England; drums), Axis Point were a UK hard rock group of the late 70s/early 80s, made up of experienced band and session musicians. Their combined experience shone through on their 1979 debut album for RCA Records, but it was immediately obvious that the group lacked a potent songwriter in their ranks. Boast Of The Town was a significant improvement, with its concentration on power riffs and excellent work by the rhythm section. Once again, however, it failed to sell, and the group members returned to their former employment.
