17 Memphis
17 Memphis is the country-pop project of producer Felix Snow and singer Chelsea Todd, who previously worked together as the pop duo TYSM. Following a road trip through the South, Snow -- who scored a hit with Kiiara's "Gold" and had also worked on tracks by Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, and Young Thug -- and Todd decided to switch directions and record electronic-inspired country. Their debut album, 17 Memphis Forever, saw release in 2019.
Snow and Todd both grew up in Sequin, Texas, where Snow learned to play drums, guitar, mandolin, and upright bass, and Todd sang, including taking part in musical theater. A road trip they took together around the U.S. resulted in a group of songs that they had recorded in hotel rooms on a laptop. Settling in Nashville, they released their first track, "Leather and Levi's," which was co-written by Neil Mason of Cadillac Three. It performed well on streaming platforms in 2017, as did songs including "Rearview" and "Under the Night." Three Coors & the Truth, the first EP from 17 Memphis, appeared in early 2018.
The duo released their full-length debut, 17 Memphis Forever, in mid-2019. Their second album, The Ballad of 17 Memphis, followed in June 2020.
