降央卓玛

Jamyang Dolma (February 24, 1984) is a Chinese folk music artist of Tibetan descent. Born in Dêgê County, her childhood was marked by poverty and she had to drop out of middle school in order to support her family. After being discovered while working as a waitress, she joined the Song and Dance Ensemble of Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and later attended the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, graduating in 2005. The Mountain, the Water, her studio debut, appeared in 2008 via China Record Corporation. In 2009, she experienced a surge in popularity after performing the song "Colorful Hada" at the Liberation of Tibetan Serfs Variety Art Show, broadcast by China Central Television. That same year, she also participated in an event celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and released the album Female Country. In 2010, Jamyang Dolma returned with China Voices, which enjoyed great success in her native country and was hailed by many as her finest work. Subsequent releases like 2011's Golden Enticement and 2012's World's Most Beautiful Mezzo-soprano helped establish her as one of the most popular Chinese folk music performers, both locally and internationally.
