Nicknamed "the Dolphin Princess" due to her high-pitched singing voice, Jane Zhang is a multi-platinum pop superstar from Chengdu, China. She was born as "Zhang Liangying" on October 11, 1984, then rose to fame in mainland China as the third-place finalist on the reality-TV singing competition Super Girl in 2005. Her debut EP, Jane, Love, was released the following year, as was her first full-length album, The One. Jane Zhang's second LP, 2007's Update, broadened her pop-based sound with R&B and jazz influences. Two years later, Jane Zhang released her third album, Jane@Music, and appeared on Kitarō's New Age record Impressions of the West Lake as a guest vocalist. Impressions of the West Lake was later nominated for a Grammy Award. She maintained her status as one China's best-selling pop musicians throughout the 2010s, releasing albums like 2011's Reform and 2014's The Seventh Sense along the way. "Dust My Shoulders Off," her hit duet with hip-hop heavyweight Timbaland, introduced Jane Zhang to American audiences in 2016, climbing to Number 31 on Billboard's Digital Songs chart and cracking the Top 10 of America's iTunes Songs chart."808" became her second American hit one year later, peaking at Number 31 on the US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Past Progressive, her English-language debut album, was released in 2019 and helped Jane Zhang earn her ninth Best Female Singer Award from the Beijing Pop Music Awards.
