A few years after she entered J. Cole's Dreamville via Omen's "Sweat It Out" and her own "Backseat," Ari Lennox continues her gradual ascent with this, her first album. Lyrically unreserved and vocally understated as ever, Lennox seduces and dismisses with finesse and humor. She rhymes "duplicate fob" with "corn on the cob" over modern quiet storm backing one moment, then in heartfelt yet casual fashion bemoans "Your deceivin', receivin', non-givin'-head ass," like a mix of Lil' Mo and Yahzarah, supported by an organic, slow-motion house track. Cole himself is on the title track, originally released on the soundtrack for Creed II.
