O primeiro álbum ao vivo do Guns N’ Roses, Live Era ‘87-’93, foi lançado em 1999 pela Geffen Records. Com 22 faixas, o disco duplo produzido por Del James teve a maioria das músicas captadas durante a turnê de divulgação do álbum Use Your Illusion, no início dos anos 1990, e teve os vocais regravados em estúdio. Entre as canções escolhidas para o álbum estão lados B, como “Move To The City” e “Out Ta Get Me”; um cover, “It’s Alright”, do Black Sabbath, e diversos sucessos da banda, como “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Patience”, “November Rain”, “Sweet Child o’ Mine” e “Paradise City”, entre outras. Mesmo tendo causado polêmica entre os membros da banda, o álbum foi um dos mais vendidos de 2000 e recebeu certificação de ouro nos Estados Unidos, com mais de 500 mil cópias comercializadas.
