The follow-up to Johnny Colon's hit of earlier in the year (Boogaloo Blues), Boogaloo '67 increased the firepower slightly but never found a performance to compete with what would be Colon's best-known work. Fans of the boogaloo will appreciate the soundalike "You Gotta Love Me," while trombone aficionados will find much to love all over the record, but Colon's parade of original compositions are a cut below what was happening in the Latin community during the late '60s.
