Denis Azor
With his hit "Ala Li La", ranked No. 18 in the Top 50 for 3 weeks in the middle of summer 1991, Mauritian singer Denis Azor imported to France the sega, a style exclusive to the Indian Ocean, made famous ten years earlier by Maxime Le Forestier on the track "Ambalaba". The music accompanied what was designated that year as the summer dance. The track has remained the only hit for Denis Azor, the animator and composer behind several groups from Mauritius. He then toured from Europe to China, before settling in Reunion Island. Seriously ill, he tried to return in 2012 with a new recording to cover his hospital bills. The album features two versions of "Ala Li La", one of them live.
