Trent Harmon took home the top prize on the 15th installment of American Idol, which was billed as its "farewell season" upon its airing in 2016. By the time Harmon released his post-Idol debut, You Got 'Em All, in May of 2018, American Idol had wrapped up its reboot season, which means Harmon kind of fell through the cracks in terms of media attention. Lost between the end and a new beginning, Harmon soldiered on, signing to Big Machine, who teamed him with producers Scott Borchetta and Julian Raymond for You Got 'Em All. Appropriately enough, the album feels slightly adrift between country and pop, styled to fit on country airwaves but having a malleable melodic heart. You Got 'Em All is flexible enough to incorporate old-fashioned soul and new-fashioned EDM-inflected pop, and Harmon rides these changes amiably, although not with a whole lot of distinction. As such, You Got 'Em All winds up being fleet but forgettable: it adapts to modern fashions without saying much about who Harmon is as a singer.
