Manu Katché knows every form of groove under the tips of his drum sticks. In a quartet (with Jérôme Regard on bass, Patrick Manouguian on guitar and Jim Henderson on keyboards), the virtuoso who seems to have supported the whole world, from Sting and Jean-Jacques Goldman to Peter Gabriel and Francis Cabrel, puts his drums at the heart of this otherworldly electro album. Here we find a concentration of rhythms that further break down the boundaries between jazz, funk, soul, world, pop, hip hop, blues and electro. The Scope uses African music as a subtle common theme throughout the record and Manu Katché even invites Faada Freddy (Vice), Jazzy Bazz (Paris Me Manque) and Jonatha Brooke (Let Love Rule) on board, making his sound even more crazy and eclectic. © Clotilde Maréchal/Qobuz
