Tracks like "Child's Eyes" and "James and the Giant Peach" introduce the grace and sincerity that would become the hallmark of his later recordings. Remastered and repackaged in 1994 by new age label Hearts of Space, The Painter enhances the portrait of John Boswell as an evocative pianist.
