There is no need for this compilation to exist, not when an ideal summary of Evelyn "Champagne" King's career -- to be specific, 2001's Greatest Hits -- is already in circulation. Part of BMG Distribution's Platinum & Gold Collection series, this budget disc contains only a dozen tracks and doesn't cover the necessary ground. For those who want a cheaper alternative, this hits the basics, like "I'm in Love," "Shame," and "Love Come Down," but it just doesn't do King (and therefore the listener) justice. Though it's true that Greatest Hits is a little more costly, it was put together with a lot more love. And if there's anyone who deserves that love, it's King.
