Love Songs focuses on romantic songs cut by Lena Horne during her time as an RCA artist from the mid-'50s to the early '60s, recording with an assortment of orchestras. She interprets pieces by composers such as George and Ira Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, and Cole Porter on this CD, the program including standards like "I Only Have Eyes for You," "Love Me or Leave Me," "What Is This Thing Called Love?," and "Someone to Watch Over Me." While lush ballads are represented, so are some arrangements with a snappy jazz swing. It's a decent sampling of her work as a mainstream jazz singer, though like all the Love Songs volumes, it only reflects certain sides of her repertoire.
