I had never heard of this incredible band before this CD arrived - in tone I would have to say they're an interesting mix of Bembeya Jazz and Orch. Baobab. The Balladins are yet another one of the amazing Guinean National Bands that were sadly broken up in the 80s as the economy went south. As if all this background wasn't enough, included here are Kante Manfila, Famoro Kouyate, the slinkiest guitar work in the world and even some solo trombone! Even though I say it quietly, they're better than Baobab -don't pass this up!
