Mohamed Ray

Originally from Oujda, a town in northeastern Morocco bordering Algeria, Mohamed Ray has a fondness for traditional music, particularly raï. He began his artistic career in the 1990s with a relatively low profile, producing niche cassettes such as Je t'aime à la folie, released in 1998. Following in the tradition of sentimental raï or raï love, he met the Platinium Music label, with whom he signed a collaboration contract. With Platinium Music, he recorded a number of new compositions, including "La souffrance", released in 2007 to immediate success. On the strength of this first popular hit, Mohamed Ray went on to make his own album, revealing himself to be one of the new faces of Raï in the early 2000s, with such unanimously acclaimed tracks as "Nansak ana wnakwi Galbi", "Raki Flgalab " and "tfakart mimti".
