Three years after A Deeper Understanding, Philadelphia-born rock band, The War On Drugs, released their very first live album titled Live Drugs on the Super High Quality label of their leader Adam Granduciel. The result of a long collaboration between the latter and co-producer, guitarist and stage manager Dominic East, this album is made up of a selection of songs from more than 40 hard discs of concert recordings over several years. « It puts a nice exclamation point on our tour. [...]. Even though this recording is from a year-long tour, it tells about how six guys evolved as a band from 2014 to 2019.» explains Adam Granduciel. The other five members of the Philadelphia sextet, beginning with bass player Dave Hartley, all make key contributions to reimagining, not simply re-creating, Granduciel’s richly textured songs. © GG/Qobuz

The Black Keys in 10 Songs

From 2001, The Black Keys have been reminding the world about the real roots of the Blues, cutting away all the frills and unnecessary solos. Their music has always been untamed, abrupt and minimalist. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney developed this unique style over the course of two decades, without once selling their souls to the devil at a Mississippi crossroads. Here are ten songs to prove it.

40 Years of Post-punk in 10 Albums

In the twilight of the ’70s, as the shrapnel of the punk explosion was still settling, the movement was already inspiring new groups. As New Wave unfurled, the post-punk movement represented a tortured, even radical turn. From pioneers Joy Division and The Fall to current bands Shame and Fontaines D.C., here’s a close-up on the landmark albums that electrified the entire music world and continue to fascinate the rock’n’roll underground.

Jack White, The Saviour of Rock

From the White Stripes to his time in the solo wilderness, Jack White has been foretelling the doom of a clapped-out rock'n'roll. The genius with a thousand projects has a new prophecy: rock is coming back. While we await its return, here's a look back at the White phenomenon.
