Star 69's debut album Eating February is a credible set of mid-'90s alterna-pop, drawing heavily from the dreamy pop of Belly and the harder-rocking Cracker and the Replacements. Lead singer Julie Daniels occasionally can write a solid hook, but too much of the record is devoted to bland college rock and predictable arrangements. Nevertheless, isolated moments on Eating February show promise, making the record a fairly standard debut album
