The Wedding Present are probably not as "Indie" as they seem! Formed in Leeds in 1985 by David Gedge, they share an amazing record with... Elvis Presley ! That of the highest number of singles ranked in the British Top 40 in one year, after releasing one track per month in 1992. The album was then judiciously named "Hit Parade". Nourished by the music of The Fall, Buzzcocks and Gang of Four, The Wedding Present enjoyed a golden era during the first ten years of their existence, even signing with RCA for the release of their legendary albums "Bizarro" and "Seamonsters" in the early 90s. Although only David Gedge remains at the helm, accompanied by a band that has changed over the course of its numerous tours, the Wedding Present (and their pop and orchestral twin Cinerama) have managed to keep a DIY spirit and their own identity in the British alternative music scene. True musical craftsmen!
