Op The Boy Who Knew Too Much, focust Mika zich op zijn talent voor geweldige melodieën en hooks. Alhoewel snufjes inspiratie bij collega’s als Elton John, The Bee Gees, en de Scissor Sisters nog steeds de kop opsteken, is de muzikant van wie Mika het meeste leent op The Boy Who Knew Too Much, hijzelf. Hij probeert ook voor de vorm een aantal andere dingen met zijn sound, waarvan het meest overduidelijk op “Toy Boy”, een ondermijnend lieve meezinger die ergens tussen Elvis Presleys “Wooden Heart” en “Coin Operated Boy” van The Dresden Dolls ligt, en op de aansteker-in-de-lucht-afsluiter “Pick Up Off the Floor.” Iedereen die de felle, brutale aanpak van Life in Cartoon Motion leuk vond zal met The Boy Who Knew Too Much niet teleurgesteld worden. Het is duidelijk dat Mika precies weet wat hij doet.
