The first single from his third album, Started from the Bottom finds Drake in a hardcore rap mood, boasting about his rise from humble beginnings and featuring typically smooth rhymes, but delivered with an uncharacteristic snarl in his voice. Despite the straightforward and in-your-face nature of the words, the music is more subtle, mixing a hypnotic piano loop with a simple but powerful beat.
