Trumpeter Freddie Hubbard and his 1981 quintet (which included Dave Schnitter on tenor and soprano, keyboardist Billy Childs, bassist Larry Klein and drummer Carl Burnett) are in fine form on this live set originally recorded for MPS. The LP consists of seven songs Hubbard often performed during that period including "One of Another Kind," "Here's That Rainy Day" "Up Jumped Spring" and his heated blues "Byrdlike." Although few surprises occur, the largely straightahead music is quite enjoyable and Hubbard's fans may want to search for this fairly rare item.
