Na een jaar vastgezeten te hebben voor het illegaal bezitten van een machinegeweer, keert de zelfbenoemde koning van het Zuiden terug om zijn persoonlijke strijd te kanaliseren door middel van een introspectief album. De titel van het album verwijst naar T.I.'s keuze om terug te gaan naar het schrijven van zijn raps op papier. Dit schrijfambacht is duidelijk te horen wanneer het Atlanta-icoon in zijn persoonlijke problemen graaft, en zijn aanvaring met de wet bespreekt in “Ready For Whatever” en zijn gevangenisstraf op “You Ain’t Missing Nothing”. T.I. werkt samen met voormalig rivaal Ludacris op het grandioze “On Top of the World.” Op “My Life Your Entertainment” bespreekt hij de kannibalistische verhouding tussen het persoonlijke leven van rappers en hun kunst. Tijdens “Swagga Like Us” vergezelt hij Kanye West, Jay-Z en Lil Wayne op een bombastisch posse-nummer.
