Ondanks de specifieke lokaliteit van de titel, voelt dit album eigenlijk geografisch dakloos aan. Qua productie, halen deze 19 nummers hun invloed van alle kusten, en komen de gast MC’s van Chicago (Common), New York (Raekwon), Louisiana (Lil Wayne) en natuurlijk South Central (Ice Cube). Al deze verwarring vindt zijn samenhang in Game zijn ontegenzeggelijke autoriteit met de mic – waarmee hij dubbel opgenomen, raspende agressie uitstoot over gewetensvolle en opschepperige onderwerpen. LAX heeft een losse, idiosyncratische vibe die op een bepaalde, minimalistisch-futuristische funk wijze voort rolt.
