Most of Dick Hyman's recordings of the 1980's and 90's have been based around specific topics but this is a freewheeling solo club set. The pianist is heard on a wide-ranging repertoire that includes such numbers as "What Is This Thing Called Love," "Lush Life," James P. Johnson's "Snowy Morning Blues," an original theme that he wrote for "The Purple Rose of Cairo," Jelly Roll Morton's "Frog-I-More Rag," "At the Jazz Band Ball" and "I'm Just Wild About Harry." A typically superb outing that (due to its variety) serves as a perfect introduction to Dick Hyman's exciting playing.
