Album number five for Skydiggers (there is no "the" in their name), and they have never sounded so adventurous, creative, and angry. Trimmed down to a trio for this release, and back on an independent label, Skydiggers cover a number of subjects using sounds, words, and music to express their thoughts and concerns. "Maize" uses brilliant illustrations to entice the listener into a not-so-safe world, made even more unsettling by the music and production. Although these are some of the most catching melodies Skydiggers have ever written, it is not an easy listening experience. "November in Ontario" tells a tale of drowning; "Dear Henry" relates the story of a man and his demons (featuring the beautiful vocals of Sarah Harmer); "The Truth About Us" brings listeners up to date on atrocities of the 20th century. Overall, a very well-crafted album, with incredible melodies played faultlessly. The music ranges from folk to rock, which provides the listener with a variety of sounds. A highly recommended album, just not one that might be a hit at parties.
