Fivio Foreign makes sure no one forgets he’s a “self-made, Grammy-nominated” musician with the lyrics to his track Self Made. This Brooklyn prodigy is clearly putting in the hard work to switch this nomination for a win. After a string of EPs that pushed him to the forefront of the new American rap scene, he released his first album, B.I.B.L.E., a release that sums up everything that new pop has inherited from drill rap over the past 3 years. With Kanye West, Alicia Keys and the producer Mike Dean featuring on the huge single City Of Gods, he proves he’s part of a sound destined for huge success. He consolidates this fact by sampling Say My Name by Destiny’s Child in his track What’s My Name and by dabbling with RnB sounds in Love Songs featuring Ne-Yo. The rapper has chosen to step into a whole new dimension, leaving behind the harshness of his previous music in order to reach a wider audience. There are still shades of darkness splattering his work, but B.I.B.L.E., as the name suggests, has something truly divine about it. On the track B.I.B.L.E. Talk, DJ Khaled gives what can only be described as a surreal sermon which states that rappers are sent by God to entertain and inspire the masses, and make money.
