KHAID
Nigerian singer and rapper Khaid specializes in an airy blend of Afrobeats and trap. In 2022, at the age of 17, he was discovered and signed by Neville Records founder Sydney Talker. Khaid has released two EPs, the latter of which, 2023's Emotions, yielded the hits "Jolie" and "Annabella."
Born Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon on December 10, 2004, Khaid grew up in the Shibiri-Ojo area of Lagos State alongside his nine siblings. While beginning his music career, he worked as a roadside mechanic to help support his family. An online post of his freestyling caught the attention of influential label mogul Sydney Talker who signed Khaid to his Neville imprint in early 2022. His first single, "With You," made Nigeria's Top 50 and appeared on his debut EP, Diversity, later that year. Khaid's success grew significantly in 2023 first with the release of "Jolie," a sun-drenched love song that reached number seven on the Nigerian pop chart. A one-off collaboration with Boy Spyce, "Carry Me Go," arrived a few months later, charting in both the U.K. and U.S. Khaid later hit number one on his country's Afropop chart with "Annabella" from his second EP, Emotions. He followed up the EP with "Forever" in September of that year.
