About Playlist
There are few metal labels in existence that have both the storied history and continued relevance that Century Media Records does. Shortly after forming in Germany in 1988, the imprint launched numerous extreme metal bands like Asphyx and Grave, and then others like Iced Earth and Arch Enemy. Only a few of their bands have become blowout festival headliners, but Century Media has always remained a trusted and remarkably consistent home for death metal, prog-metal, metalcore, deathcore, hardcore, and plain ol' heavy metal bands alike.
The label can’t possibly be pinned to a single style (although they did have a strong influence on the melodic death metal scene of the mid-'90s and the American metalcore movement of the 2000s), so this primer playlist is intentionally scattered with a little bit of everything from their last 30-plus years of metal mayhem.
