Wurzel 5
Wurzel 5 is a Swiss rap group closely affiliated with Chlyklass Records that rose to Top Five success in 2006 with their third album, Teamgeist. Founded in 1997 in Bern, Switzerland, the group is comprised of MCs Diens, Serej, and Tiersch along with DJ Link. Closely affiliated with Baldy Minder's Chlyklass Records, the group is part of the Chlyklass collective, which also includes the group PVP (Krust, Phantwo, Greis, Poul Prügu), Baze, and DJ Skoob. Wurzel 5 made their recording debut in 1998 with a couple tracks on the Rapresent sampler. A couple years later they released the Schii$tracks (2000) maxi-single and then made their full-length album debut with Jugendsündä (2001). Their second album, Verdächtig (2003), was their first in a series released in association with Muve Recordings, and was their first to hit the Swiss albums chart. Wurzel 5 broke through to mainstream success with their third album, Teamgeist (2006), which spawned the breakout hit single "Für Di." Fourth album Letschti Rundi (2009) was another Top Five hit for the group. In addition, Wurzel 5 featured prominently on the Chlyklass collective albums Ke Summer (2005) and Rollin' 500: Classicos (2008).
