Kyteman
Kyteman is a jazz-rap artist from the Netherlands who made his album debut in 2009 with The Hermit Sessions, garnered considerable success, and took his live hip-hop band, Kyteman's Hiphop Orkest, on the road in support of the album. Born Colin Benders and based in Utrecht, Kyteman is a multi-instrumentalist who performs primarily on trumpet. Moreover, he is the musical director of Kyteman's Hiphop Orkest, a hip-hop orchestra featuring upwards of 12 musicians and eight rappers that performs live on-stage. At age 18 Kyteman began working on what would ultimately become his full-length debut album. He made his recording debut in 2008 with The Kyteman EP, a three-track release featuring his debut single, "She Blew Like Trumpets." The following year he made his album debut with The Hermit Sessions, a wide-ranging full-length effort featuring rappers Paradox, GMB, Reazun, Omar Soulay, Blaxtar, Bangbang, Unorthadox, Double G, King Jule, and Master Surreal. Performed mostly in English, along with some French, The Hermit Sessions was both a critical and commercial success in the Netherlands, reaching the Top Five of the Dutch albums chart and spawning the follow-up single "No More Singing the Blues." Kyteman's Hiphop Orkest toured throughout the Netherlands in support of the album.
