Jean-Jacques Kouamé
A child of Treichville, a district in central Abidjan, Jean-Jacques Kouamé, also nicknamed JJK, became a household name through his role in the Ivorian Jet Set collective, which initiated the coupé-décalé wave from Paris. With Douk Saga, they launched the "faroter" movement in the musical style. As a solo artist, Jean-Jacques Kouamé distinguished himself by creating the concept of "scenario". His songs, which appeared on the eponymous album, seduced the public and were played in party venues. Gradually, once the excitement of the Jet Set had died down, Jean-Jacques Kouamé moved away from music and became a businessman. He embarked on a number of sustainable development ventures, before being appointed Chairman and CEO of IC Dev. He made a comeback on the music scene in 2012 with his single "Le pas du brave", then appeared on the bill at the 2016 Kora Awards for his featuring on "May day" (2014) with the group Bracket.
