Hauskey
An adept singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Hauskey makes distinctive, low-key indie pop that draws upon his love of jazz, R&B, and '70s soft rock. He debuted in 2020 with the Slow EP, which he followed with a trio of interrelated EPs in 2022.
Born Andy Hopkins, Hauskey grew up in Perth, Australia, where he started playing music at a young age after discovering a John Coltrane album in his mother's record collection. Along the way, began writing his own songs, drawing early inspiration from a mix of artists including John Mayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, and others. After high school, he earned his music degree from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and moved into teaching, founding a multi-branch music school. Still, performing and songwriting remained his passion and he relocated to London to pursue his career. Success proved elusive, and he eventually returned to Australia, where he ensconced himself in a rural farmhouse to focus on his music. The move proved fruitful, and in 2020 Hauskey emerged with his debut EP, Slow, on Republic Records. A trio of interconnected EPs, Emilee: Act I, Heartache & LSD Act: II, and Help!: Act III, appeared in 2022.
