Gitta Alpar
b. Gitta Alpár, 5 February 1900, Budapest, Hungary, d. 17 February 1991, Los Angeles, California, USA. After gaining popularity as an opera singer, Alpar made some films, usually in minor roles, sometimes in a cameo as a singer. In the early 30s these were made in Europe, later also in Hollywood. Her films included Gitta Entdeckt Ihr Herz (1932), Die - Oder Keine (1932, US title: She, Or Nobody; UK title: This One Or None), The Loves Of Madame Dubarry (1935), Guilty Melody (1936), Because Of Love (1936), Mr. Stringfellow Says No (1937) and The Flame Of New Orleans (1941). In the latter, which starred Marlene Dietrich, Alpar appeared as an opera singer. In 1974, she appeared on television as herself in V.I.P.-Schaukel.
