Francisco Carlos

Francisco Carlos, one of the highly popular singers of the '50s, was hired as a singer in 1946 by Rádio Tamoio, later moving to Rádio Globo. Carlos recorded his first album in 1950, which contained the carnival march "Meu Brotinho," to great success. In that same year he participated in the films Aviso Aos Navegantes (Watson Macedo) and Não É Nada Disso (José Carlos Burle). He would work in another four films. In 1953 he was voted the Best Singer of the Year by the listeners and, five years later, he was elected the Rei do Rádio (King of Radio). In 1962 he toured Europe in the Fifth Caravana da UBC (Caravan of the Brazilian Union of Composers).
