Flemming Bamse Jørgensen
One of Denmark's best known and longest running singers, Flemming Jørgensen (he earned the nickname Bamse as the leader of the band Bamses Venner, another long running tradition in Danish pop and rock) was born in 1947 in Northampton. With the Bamses Venner, which was founded in 1973, Jørgensen became a household name in his native country, and in 1980 finished 14th at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Taenker Altid Pa Dig" (or "Always Thinking of You," in English). Over the years, Jørgensen would go on to record a great many albums and singles, and in 2007, released his 34th full-length, Love Me Tender, which was a tribute collection of 14 of Elvis Presley's best-known ballads.
