ExWHYZ
Japanese alternative idol girl group ExWhyZ, formerly known as Empire (stylised as EMPiRE) have been a mainstay on Japan's Oricon charts since first forming in 2017. Steered by WACK and Avex Trax, the group released their debut album The Empire Strikes Start!! (#7) in 2018 and landed a song on anime Black Cover, "Black to the dreamlight." Their first EP, Empire Originals (#8), also arrived in 2018 and the following year they scored another track for the ending theme of manga series Fairy Tail, "Pierce," which was featured in the final season. The group's second studio album The Great Journey Album (#6) surfaced in 2019 with the Super Cool EP (#8) following in 2020. Their third studio album Bright Future (#6) marked their last full-length release prior to the group's re-branding, during which they changed their name to ExWhyZ in 2022 and re-debuted under EMI Records. They introduced their new identity with a self-titled album in 2022 and its successor, Xanadu, in the spring of 2023. October 2023 saw the release of EP How High? which went to number eight in Japan.
