Tessa Violet Williams (born on March 20, 1990) is an American singer, vlogger, and fashion model whose viral video content propelled her to international stardom. Formerly known as Meekakitty, Williams did some modelling work in Hong Kong and Thailand before relocating to New York City in 2009, which is where she started off a successful career as a YouTuber, quickly accumulating millions of views in her channel. In 2014, Williams’ studio debut, Maybe Trapped Mostly Troubled, climbed up to Number 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart after selling 5,000 copies in the first three months since its release. She followed up with the darker-sounding EP Halloway (2016), which earned her comparisons to pop divas Taylor Swift and Halsey. Preceded by the singles “Crush,” “Bad Ideas,” “I Like (the idea of) You,” and “Games,” Bad Ideas (2019) Williams’ own breakup record, was hailed by critics as a minimalist pop masterpiece and peaked at Number 19 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart. The accompanying video for “Crush,” directed by Big Forest, gained over 60 millions views and earned Williams a feature on YouTube’s Artist On The Rise.
