Chanmina
South Korean-Japanese rapper Mina Otomani (aka Chanmina) utilizes her formidable talent to switch between hip-hop and more pop-oriented output.
Although born in South Korea in 1998, her family moved around and she spent her childhood moving around Korea, Japan, and the United States. Her mother encouraged her to learn ballet and violin. She originally intended to move back to Korea and become a K-pop singer, but her friend and fellow rapper Messhi persuaded her to stay in Japan and rap. Her first break came in 2016 after participating in Bazooka!!! Kōkōsei Rap Senshūken, a high school rap competition that was broadcast nationally. Her debut album, Miseinen, arrived the following year. After signing to Warner Music Japan, two further albums followed, 2019's Never Grow Up and 2021's Harenchi.
