Cassiya
Cassiya was formed in 1992 by Désiré François and Alain Lafleur in the Cassis district of Port-Louis (capital of Mauritius). Both members of Zenfan Cassis since 1987, their ambitions led them to found their own group to promote Sega music, which is very much a part of Mascarene traditions. Cassiya's first album, Séparation (1993), was an instant success. Praised by listeners, the band followed up and repeated the success of their first hits with "Ici cote nou été " (1995). The high productivity of the band members, who released a number of albums in the 1990s(Cassiya II (1994), Naryé pa efasé (1997)), encouraged them to make themselves heard on the international scene. With tours of La Réunion, Africa and Europe, including the Zénith in Paris and the Olympia in 1999, Cassiya gradually became a global ambassador for sega. After Nou amizé séga cassiya (2007), L'avenir zanfan (2012) celebrates the 20th anniversary of a career that has produced dozens of albums, including the hits "Rev nou zancetre" (1998) and "Marlène " (1994). Ten years later, the band celebrates 30 years in the music business with a series of concerts over several weeks on the island of La Réunion.
