BabyMonster, also known as Baemon, is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment. The group comprises seven members: Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Haram, Rora, and Chiquita whose selection was documented in the reality show Last Evaluation, filmed in 2022. YG Entertainment officially introduced the septet on January 1, 2023 with a trailer-like video which garnered an impressive 15 million views within three days, seeing the channel reach two million subscribers in 129 days, making them the fastest K-pop girl group to achieve such a feat. On May 14, 2023, the group released a pre-debut single titled "Dream." The song peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart, and on November 27, YG Entertainment unveiled the group's debut with the track "Batter Up." The video for the single made K-pop history as the most-watched debut music video in the first 24 hours of release and earned them Rookie of the Year Award at the 2024 Circle Chart Music Awards. Released on April 1st, their inaugural EP BabyMons7er featured re-recordings of "Batter Up" and "Stuck in the Middle," securing positions at number 3 in Korea, 6 in Japan, and 15 on the US Billboard World Charts. The EP was notably led by its title track "Sheesh," which achieved global chart success across Asia, New Zealand, and the United States.
