A band that helped to shape the sound of both death and doom metal, Autopsy had a brutal and menacing sound that helped to cement their reputation as pioneers of the genre. With Introducing Autopsy, new fans get a survey course in savagery with a two-disc tour of a band that helped to create the building blocks for modern metal. While the music here is elemental, lacking some of the technical flair that would come later in the genre's life, its menace comes through loud and clear, making this a great compilation for anyone looking to explore the gory and hostile world of early death metal.
