A singer and rapper from Mexico, Yahir Saldivar rose onto the charts by marrying personal and societal lyrics with a playful, updated take on traditional cumbia dance rhythms. In 2024, his breakthrough hit, "SC-9," landed on the Billboard TikTok Top 50 as well as the Top 20 of the Latin Digital Songs chart, putting him at the forefront of the cumbias bélicas style.Hailing from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Saldivar showed a passion for music from a young age and was inspired by Ariel Camacho to pursue music as a vocation. He started sharing early recordings such as "SC-2 (CHORE)" (2022) and "LA CUMBIA DEL CASTOR" (2023) to streaming platforms in his late teens. While he had some viral success with these and other songs, it was early 2024's "SC-9," aka "La Chimichanga," that truly blew up on social media, leading to a record deal with DEL Records. Meanwhile, the song cracked the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, placed just outside the Top 30 of the TikTok Top 50, and reached as high as number 18 on the Latin Digital Songs list. As that song accumulated over a 100 million streams, Saldivar followed up with collaborations such as "A LA ORDEN" (with Santa Fe Klan) and "La Caravana" (with Bandi2) as well as solo tracks including "Aquí Seguimos" before the end of 2024.
