Mackenzie Carpenter

A Georgia-born singer/songwriter with a relatable country-pop sound, Mackenzie Carpenter parlayed her early triumphs in Nashville writing rooms into a successful solo career by releasing her eponymous 2023 EP, which included the hit singles "Can't Nobody" and "Huntin' Season." Carpenter's soulful country croon was shaped early on by singing alongside her brothers at the Georgia church where her father preached. Raised outside of Athens in the small town of Hull, her musical education began with guitar lessons from her siblings and songwriting advice from her Dad, who had some experience in the cutthroat Nashville music scene. Her early compositions were worship songs, but she adopted a more cosmopolitan style after relocating to Music City to study songwriting and music business at Belmont University. She graduated amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and moved back home during lockdown, but continued honing her skills in online writing sessions. Her first taste of success came in 2021 after "Villain," a song she co-wrote with Kyle Clark and Lily Rose, became a viral hit for the latter artist. Carpenter's first single, "Can't Nobody," appeared the following year and garnered millions of streams. The equally successful "Huntin’ Season" arrived later that year. Before long, she was sharing stages with the likes of Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen, and Ryan Hurd, and playing sold-out solo sets in local hotspots like The Listening Room and The Basement East. Both songs were featured on her 2023 debut EP, Mackenzie Carpenter, in addition to the hit "Don't Mess with Exes."
