Lothar
Singer, musician, songwriter, and producer Michael Holm – born Lothar Walter in Stettin, Germany (now known as Szczecin, Poland) on July 29, 1943 – is an artist who has achieved success in Germany as a schlager music singer as well as international acclaim as one-half of new age music duo Cusco. His musical career began with the release of his 1961 singles “Dad Lied Von Der Liebe” and “Bald Wirst Du Wieder Glücklich Sein”. He achieved minor success with 1962’s “Lauter Schöne Wort”, which her recorded with female vocal quartet Die Sunnies. In 1969, he scored his first big with “Mendocino” (a German-language cover of the Sir Douglas Quintet song of the same name). The single went on to sell over a million copies and climbed to Number 3 on the German singles chart. He continued to chart in the 1970s with songs such as "Barfuß im Regen" (1970), "Tränen lügen nicht" (1974) and "Musst Du jetzt gerade gehen, Lucille" (1977). In the early 1970s, he collaborated with Giorgio Moroder on several singles, finally releasing the 1973 album Spinach 1. Throughout his career, Michael Holm recorded with several different musical projects including The Hippies, The Magics, Peppermint, and many others. However, his collaboration with Kristian Schultze resulted in the pioneering new age band Cusco, who released their debut album, Desert Island, in 1980. For the next two decades, Michael Holm juggled many musical projects including over 20 albums with Cusco and a series of solo releases including Holm 2011, 1000 Wege (2013), and Als Die Alten Zeiten Jung War’n (2017).
