He began his singing career in 2007 on the Colombian version of the talent show The X-Factor and later became one of the finalists of the Univisión singing contest, La Banda, in 2015. In 2016, he made his official debut with the reggaeton track "Pretty Girl (Tu Canción)," followed by a Spanglish version of the track and the single "Tíralo" later that year. Over the next few years, Johann Vera continued to fine-tune his infectious brand of Latin pop music on singles such as "Vuelo a París" (2017), "Astronauta" (2018), and "Ahogando" (2019). In 2020, he performed at Chile's legendary Viña del Mar Festival, winning the Gaviota de Plata Award. During this time, he also made his acting debut on the popular Colombian soap opera Enfermeras. Following the success of songs like "Perdón" (2020), "Inevitable" (2021), and "El Profe" (2022) with Brray and JD Pantoja, Johann Vera returned with the track "Donde Nací," which celebrated Ecuador's participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
