chloe mk

Known for her raspy, soulful voice and yearning, electronic-tinged sound she calls "Internet pop," Chloe Kohanski, aka chloe mk, first came to the public's attention as the winner of the 13th season of The Voice. In 2019, she released her debut EP, Fantasy, featuring the single "To Be Young" Born in 1993, Kohanski grew up in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, where she became interested in singing at a young age. After high school, she entered Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, with plans to earn an English degree. However, she soon dropped out to pursue her music interests, and worked at a local Starbucks to help make ends meet. She eventually moved to Nashville, where she performed locally before successfully auditioning for a spot on the vocal competition program The Voice in 2017. Initially competing as part of judge Miley Cyrus' team, Kohanski was briefly eliminated before opting to continue on judge Blake Shelton's team. While on The Voice, she gained fans for her swaggering renditions of classic pop and rock songs like Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain," Blondie's "Call Me," and Kim Carnes' "Bette Davis Eyes." In December 2017, Kohanski was named the winner of The Voice, and she released her coronation single "Wish I Didn't Love You." She signed with Republic Records and in 2018 returned with the single "Come This Far." However, rather than pump out a quick production to capitalize on her Voice win, Kohanski instead took her time to develop her sound. It was during this period that she adopted the stage name chloe mk to better represent herself as an artist and distinguish her persona away from the show. In July 2019, she released her debut EP, Fantasy, which included the single "To Be Young." The album found her embracing a more contemporary, electronic-influenced sound.
