In January 2015, the Decemberists released What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World, the group's seventh studio album and one of their most ambitious offerings to date. In fact, the album was ambitious enough that a number of songs recorded for the album simply didn't make the cut. Florasongs, released nine months later, is an EP featuring five previously unreleased selections recorded during the What a Terrible World sessions. Including the debut single "Why Would I Now," Florasongs further demonstrates the Decemberists' unique style and continued strengths as musicians and songwriters.
