The Decemberists continúan su periplo por la escena folk norteamericana con la mirada prudentemente puesta en las ondas, como atestigua el primer tema, Once in My Life. Los cortes largos, los desarrollos instrumentales y los acentos celtas que exhalaba The Crane Wise (2006) han quedado ciertamente atrás, al tiempo que el folk terroso característico de la banda de Portland se iba difuminando disco a disco hasta llegar a What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. Y con el presente I’ll Be Your Girl el giro estilístico prosigue su curso.
