Quinn Lewis
An Australia-born, Nashville-based singer/songwriter with an emotive electro-pop sound, Quinn Lewis initially broke through online when his R&B-tinged single "Slipping" went viral in 2017. It landed at number one on the music blog aggregator HypeMachine and helped solidify his fan base. That same year, he also signed a publishing deal with Prescription Songs. Prior to his success, the singer spent several years honing his craft at Nashville's Belmont University and playing open-mike nights. Since garnering attention, Lewis has earned sympathetic comparisons to artists like Sam Smith, Frank Ocean, and James Blake.
A native of Brisbane, Lewis spent much of his youth moving with his family, living for periods in New Zealand, North Carolina, and Los Angeles. After receiving a guitar as a gift from his parents at age 13, he played on and off before discovering his passion for songwriting during high school. After graduating, he relocated to Nashville to pursue his songwriting career and attend Belmont University's prestigious music program. Early on, his view was focused on more traditional pop songwriting, and he began recording his material. Lewis formed a group with his guitarist roommate and recorded an EP, only to realize the project wasn't something he wanted to pursue.
After two years at Belmont, he decided to leave school to focus on his career. Resetting himself, he began recording his songs at home on his computer. He eventually hooked up with producer/drummer Danen Reed, and the duo began working together, transforming Lewis' songs into atmospheric, dynamically arranged electronic anthems. In 2016, they released the Addicted EP, which featured the yearning title track single. In 2018, he played his first SXSW Festival showcase, and released more well-received singles including "In Between" and "Weekend Luv." Another flurry of singles, including "Hurt Me Now" and "Make It Right," followed in 2019.
